Chapter 2: Ahead of the Elves
Posted by Marisa Veri on
Here we are at the start of November and the holiday window-dressings are already adorning the shopping malls. I have to say, ordinarily November is the most dreadful of months for me and often I would be complaining about the halls getting decked just a bit too soon, but this year is different. I have suffered intermittently from anxiety and depression for my entire adult life, but November and March seem to be particularly bad. The mere thought of the month usually sends me running. This year, in October I could sense those feelings looming, so when I came down with a cold to boot, I decided I would try something different to lift my spirits...I began Christmas shopping. I know that some people reading this have been Christmas knitting since January, and others don't give gifts for any holiday around this time of year, so clearly I'm not solving the world's problems with this change in pace. However, I realized that one of the biggest things to pull me out of depression come December is the festivities, so why not grab onto that as soon as the Starbucks drink menu switches to the holiday line up? So for this year, I think I'll keep staying one step ahead of the elves.
In the spirit of the holiday season, I've been playing with the blending board again. I made two little fiber snails (ok rolags, but I'm really trying to make fiber snails a thing). The blue and yellow one I made inspired by the song Silent Night, while the brown and green one began with thoughts of a boozy figgy pudding.
What has made this season extra fun this year so far, is that I get to shop for all of you also, and in that spirit I've filled the shop with loads of beautiful new things I think you will love, especially as gifts. If you check in our "Tools" section you will already find cheeky drawstring bags and beautiful stitch marker bracelets from Knit Bits Boutique.
We also have 5 new colourways in Andante already in the shop, and three cute kits from Sweet Paprika which will be added to the shop this week.
And before very long we will have Seasonal bags and stitch markers available too from Bling Your String and Candoodle Creations, too.
